D e s i g n
Toby’s design career began in high school. Unique, as the only female in her drafting classes, she would go on to receive awards of excellence and college scholarships; she also applied her skills to working as a Technical Draftsperson for Architectural and Engineering consulting firms in Edmonton, Toronto and then Vancouver. Once on the West Coast, Toby sought to fuse her practical design knowledge with her artistic passion. She worked for a highly recognized multi-disciplinary interior design studio for 13 years and recently started her own art and design firm providing cost effective expert Interior Design, planning and Realty Home Staging. Toby continues to develop her contemporary design and graphic skills while pursuing her love of painting.

Toby’s public art career began early when at age six she won a poster design contest. From pencil crayons and poster paints, Toby moved to oils and acrylics while attending high school in Prince George, British Columbia where she adopted a hyperrealist style that eventually taxed her patience and propelled her to explore less restrictive approaches. Later, while attending Art + Design School at Red Deer Community College in Alberta, Toby experimented with other media and styles but finally chose to work in acrylics on canvas and eventually gravitated toward creating impressionistic landscapes inspired by strong colour, perpetual movement and the omnipresent natural environment. Since moving to the West Coast from Toronto in 1991, Toby’s art has appeared in galleries, group exhibits, and public displays such as The Harmony Arts Festival; her art has also spawned numerous café shows and enhances both private and corporate collections.
Surrounded by the tranquil coastal mountains, Toby resides in Squamish, British Columbia and is involved in various community activities. She is the president of VISUALS Squamish Valley Artists Society, directed the 2006 Gallery events and received "People's Choice Award" at the VISUALS Art at the Market in 2007 for her painting Girl’s Best Friend.

“We have worked with Toby Jaxon on many of our design issues over the years, ranging from something as seemingly simple as colours to architectural design, commissioning her to do art work to assisting with siding and lighting. She has an amazing sense of style and practicality. While many people can and do offer opinions, we never proceed on any creative matters without first consulting Jaxon Designstudio. And, to top it all off she is always pleasant, efficient and a pleasure to work with.”

Space Planning and Graphics
“Jaxon Designstudio was an incredible help when re-creating my business logo and designing my new office space. Toby Jaxon was a pleasure to work with in so many aspects but let me list a few:
- She listened to my concerns and given my space challenges she created a very functional and usable space.
- She was always very budget conscience not only in recommending and purchasing products, but also in her billed time. I found Toby to be incredibly reasonable and fair in her pricing.
- Toby was absolutely devoted to her work. She stayed until the very end of the job to make sure that it all came together. I completely appreciate her dedication.
- Toby’s sense on style and color highlighted the experience in working with her. I still have patients regularly asking to write down the paint colors in our office.
Toby Jaxon is great. I would recommend using her services!!!”
